To many people, Volcancito is known as Boquete’s little neighbor. Although the small town is close to Boquete and the cities both sit more than 1,000 meters above sea level, it is making a name for itself.  As Panama becomes more popular as a retirement and tourist destination, Volcancito has started to flourish, gaining notoriety from foreigners who mix with the local people to form a diverse and exciting community.

Less than five years ago, Volcancito was barely a blip on the map and certainly an unknown commodity to most foreigners.  Even though Boquete was already starting to grow and had an increasing number of foreigners, this development was not happening in Volcancito.

As growth has extended beyond Boquete, this trend has started to change. Volcancito is now growing on its own, due in part to clients enjoying the refreshing climate but refusing to settle down in an increasingly crowded Boquete.  Volcancito’s infrastructure is improving and it boasts hotels like the Bambito Resort for tourists who decide to stay there.
