Boquete is the biggest town in the Chiriquí Highlands, the centre of coffee production and a popular weekend resort for the residents of David. Set in the verdant Caldera Valley 23 miles (37 km) north of David at just over 3,280 feet (1000m) above sea level, the slopes surrounding the town are dotted with coffee plantations, flower gardens and orange groves. The mountainous terrain rises to rugged peaks that are usually obscured by thick cloud that descends on the town in a constant fine mist known as bajareque. Only when the cloud clears can you see the imperious, yet silent peak of Baru Volcano (Volcán Barú), which dominates the town to the northwest.

Many guests have recorded wonderful retreats to the charm of a quiet, riverside setting with beautiful gardens and mountain views, in online traveler’s reviews. Located on the bank of the Palo Alto River, the Boquete Garden Inn could be an ideal retreat for you.

Start your morning with a complimentary Continental Breakfast on the Patio.

Then visit with the multitude of bird species who ‘join’ the breakfast group each morning in the gardens. Just minutes to the town center offer a multitude of sightseeing adventures for those of you who are more ‘active’ at heart. Experience a day of hiking, bird-watching, capture the thrill of white water rafting and canopy tours, or enjoy horseback riding.

Check out one of the many trails of Volcan Baru National Park if you are interested in tropical rainforest habitats or if you enjoy spectacular hikes.  Should you want to climb, prepare for a four-hour mounting of the volcano itself.  (Or, if you’d rather trade a more natural trek for convenient amenities, allow yourself 45-minutes for an upwards climb via a 4×4 vehicle.)

There are numerous rivers in the Boquete area that offer prime whitewater rafting opportunities.  The Chiriqui Viejo River makes for some real adventure.  The river boasts two

raft-able segments, one for novices and another for those with more experience and intrepidness—each surrounded by the stunning natural scenery that envelops the waterway on both sides.  The rapids are class 3 and 4, and class 3 rapids are likewise available on the Chiriqui River.  For an easier time, the Rio Esti offers class 2 rapids, which is perfect for a family trip with young children.

Fishing is also a favorite pastime for both locals and visitors, as the city is within reach of both the Caribbean Sea/Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Pacific on the other.

During your visit to Boquete Garden Inn, free Internet is available during office hours, and wireless internet access is also available…you’ll have to let me know if that means you can sit in the garden and work online at the same time.
